Suite101 is an online magazine that hosts articles that introduce readers to a subject (hence the 101, like biology 101).  Over 12 million people visit the site each month, and it has been online since 1997.  It currently employs around 2,000 writers in a varitey of categories.

Suite101 is respected throughout the online freelance community for its commitment to content and grammatical quality, as well as superior SEO optimization.  Writers earn residual ad income from the articles accepted onto the site, and some claim to earn $100+ per month. 

However, Suite101’s strict quality guidelines often result in article rejections and qualified writers not being accepted on the site.  Also, content accepted onto the site is under exclusive reproduction rights that last for one year. While some find these aspects frustrating, most writers for Suite101 rave about their experience and heartily recommend the site to other writers.  In fact, many enjoy the site’s exclusivity compared to open content sites that have no specific quality standards.    

The bottom line: Suite101 is a worthwhile gig, if not a tough and rigid gig.  For more stylistically creative writers the format may be stiffling, however type A writers will flourish.
