Associated Content is a freelance content network that allows users to submit text, video, audio, and images in a wide range of topics.  It was created in 2005, and has offices in Denver and New York City.

New users, referred to as “Content Producers” can sign up for free and begin producing content immediately.  Text can be composed on basically any subject imaginable, as long as it is at least 400 words in length.  After the article is finished, it is submitted for review by the Associated Content editorial team.  If it is accepted, it will become live on the Associated Content site and begin earning ad revenue at a rate of $1.50 per 1000 impressions for new content producers.  This rate will increase as more articles are submitted. Also, when you submit an article and deed the exclusive rights to Associated Content, the article will also be considered for an immediate upfront payment that can range from $1-$20 in addition to residual earnings.

Associated Content is an interesting model that has the potential for good earnings over time.  However, while many users claim to make significant earnings monthly earnings, the common complaint is that it takes too much time to get enough content and residual earnings to be worthwhile.  Registering URLs for articles, creating teaser articles at other sites that link to the articles, and linking your Associated Content account with your Twitter account can help get more page views and up your income quicker.

The bottom line: Associated Content takes some work, but is worth it for the combination of upfront and residual earnings.

  • Thank you for producing such a clear and extensive review on each of the sites reviewed this week. This is really helpful.

I’m not making as much as some people on AC, but I’m having fun learning more about SEO, writing online, and other relevant topics. I have an acquaintance that is making a LOT over at AC by writing about online games and other stuff that is very popular.

If you write good, well-keyworded, popular articles, then they will continue to produce income for quite some time. Another friend said that a holiday article had 10x the traffic (aka 10x the $) the second year the holiday rolled around. I thought that was pretty neat!

  • I write for AC and I make good money! Check out my articles.
